It's New Year's Eve, heading into the year 2054. The modern world is in its worst pandemic yet, and a massive asteroid is on a collision course with Earth. Like sheep in line for the slaughter, most people on Earth have no idea what's coming. Only the global elite seem to be in the know.
In a Manhattan penthouse overlooking Central Park, a small group of the most powerful people on Earth toast to a plan designed to eliminate 80% of the global population. The AI models say it's the optimal path. Their data supports it. The math is clean.
There's just one problem — a team of underpaid scientists realize the cure they've developed could heal the world. And this leads them to discover systemic corruption surrounding them, so they decide they must do everything in their power to stop it.
Their adversaries control the global financial system, bot infrastructure, media platforms, and the most advanced AI models ever built. They must race against time and assemble a unique team capable of changing the world. Thanks to unexpected allies and sheer determination, they may have a chance.
The AI models predicted everything — except the people who refused to stop.
2054 is a near-future speculative thriller written in a bold, distinctive voice unlike anything currently on shelves. Set in a world where autonomous bots manage daily life, AI models make decisions that affect billions, and the line between conspiracy theory and reality has never been thinner.
The bookends aren't narrated by a person.
In a structural twist that has never been done before in published fiction, the prologue and epilogue are narrated by the AI models themselves — clinical log entries framing the story from outside human hands, growing increasingly self-aware as they document a world they were supposed to be able to predict.
These bookends were written in collaboration with Anthropic's Claude, making the book's central question — who controls the tools, and who the tools control — not just thematic but structural.
